'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Gary Roberts - August Player Of The Month

The 20 year old midfielder has been used across the middle but he hasn't let that effect his performances.

His two goals against Brighton and all round energetic performance on the opening day of the season saw him lead the Alex to their first win of the season.

He followed it up with three more similar appearances in August. Commanding throughout the middle, he makes it hard for the opposition to hold onto the ball, and if he's not helping out in defence he's storming up the pitch to help out in attack.

He won the August POTM poll with 65% of the vote, with Neil Cox coming in second place with 16%.

I was surprised it wasn't more than 65%. I never thought he was bad last season, but he's really stepped it up a level or two this season. Fantastic player, shame we'll struggle to keep him if he keeps it up over the next 12 months.

i didnt, he tried his hardest, but basically was him on his own last season, with schumacher signing given him a new lease of life.

From our four goals this season, he has two goals and two assists.
