Blanchett signed in the summer of 2010 on a one year deal after a successful trial at the club.

Having risen through from non-league after being released as a youth player by QPR, Blanchett played for Hendon, Harrow and Cambridge before signing for Peterborough in 2007 for an undisclosed fee.

However he made just seven appearances for the League One club, eventually spending time out on loan at the likes of Hereford United and AFC Wimbledon in 2009/2010.

He joined the Alex to go straight into the left back spot following the departure of Billy Jones.
