Collis signed for the Alex on 1st July 2008 after agreeing personal terms following his release from Southend United. Despite starting the 08/09 season as Steve Holland's number one, injuries and poor performances saw Collis dropped from the side in favour of Stuart Tomlinson following Steve Holland's sacking in November 2008.

He made just three appearances following Gudjon Thordardson's appointment in December 2008, once in a 2-3 defeat at Millwall, again in the final game of the season, a 3-0 defeat at home to League Champions Leicester City and finally at Accrington Stanley where he conceded five in a 5-3 defeat.

After Gudjon Thordarson's sacking in October 2009 Collis was released in the following December having failed to make another appearance.
