Single goal defeats Crewe
Mon 28th Mar 3.00pm
Striker Jamie Proctor's early second-half goal kept Crewe Alexandra entrenched at the bottom of the table following a 1-0 defeat to Bradford City at Gresty Road.
The 24-year-old took advantage of a mistake from Welsh Under-21 centre-back George Ray to fire the visitors into the lead five minutes after the restart.
Their latest defeat means Crewe are now eleven points away from safety with just seven games of their season remaining.
Home striker Lauri Dalla Valle drilled wide early on while Billy Clarke headed a Tony McMahon cross behind at the other end.
Stephen Darby and Proctor both missed decent opportunities for the visitors, until the latter opened the scoring as Ray misjudged Nathan Clarke's ball forward.
The Alex brought on latest signing Daniel Udoh and the teenager went near with an overhead effort before Ben Garratt kept out Bantams' substitute Steven Davies.
Davies had scored City's winner at the weekend and was then claiming for a penalty when challenged by the home goalkeeper late on.
