Crewe Alexandra remain in the bottom four after Lauri Dalla Valle's early goal was cancelled out by Leyton Orient's Darius Henderson.
The Railwaymen went in front on ten minutes as on loan goalkeeper Alex Cisak couldn't deal with Greg Leigh's delivery and Dalla Valle tucked in.
However, Henderson volleyed an equaliser on the half-hour from Marvin Bartley's cross to keep the visitors a couple of places above their latest opponents.
Midfielder Jobi McAnuff struck wide for them from a decent position before later being denied by Paul Rachubka ahead of the break.
Rachubka also collected a Ryan Hedges effort upon the restart before the same player released Chris Dagnall to force another great stop from the Alex keeper.
Orient's goalscorer Henderson had earlier wastefully mis-kicked when well-placed.
Returning Ryan Colclough at least prompted Cisak into action at the opposite end, although it was the visitors still appearing the more likely as Rachubka thwarted Hedges again.
But Crewe's cause wasn't helped though after losing Jamie Ness with injury at half-time and then fellow midfielder Chris Atkinson within ten minutes.
