Loan duo boost Alex

Striker Tom Hitchcock claimed his first Crewe Alexandra goal and fellow loanee Chuks Aneke added another as the visitors earned a 2-2 draw at Coventry City.

The 21-year-old QPR marksman opened the scoring when receiving from Aneke on fourteen minutes but Franck Moussa headed an equaliser before the break.

Callum Wilson then converted a 56th minute penalty after being fouled by recalled Alex goalkeeper Ben Garratt, until Aneke combined with Hitchcock to equalise ten minutes later.

Crewe began in solid fashion and Harry Davis delivered an early free-kick onto the roof of the net before Aneke slipped in Hitchcock to draw Joe Murphy and open the scoring.

Aneke then headed wide from a corner while on loan Fulham winger Mesca drove straight at Murphy, who also had to deal with a teasing George Evans delivery before Matt Tootle struck behind.

But despite that it was the Sky Blues finding an equaliser when Moussa got on the end of Chris Maguire's 36th minute corner.

Davis soon had to block from Wilson while Chris Dagnall saw an effort ruled out for offside after Garratt could only parry from Cyrus Christie. Abdul Osman headed wide in reply from another Davis free-kick.

Coventry forged ahead early in the second period when young keeper Garratt hurried from his line and caught the advancing Wilson, who knocked in the resultant penalty.

That had been awarded by a substitute referee following an enforced change at the interval - and he was soon signalling an equaliser when Hitchcock stole possession and sent in Aneke for his fourth goal of the campaign.

Both sides continued to look for a winner, with Maguire being denied by the block of Kelvin Mellor and Christie's timely challenge on Alex substitute Brad Inman ensuring parity remained.
