Crewe Alexandra conceded twice in the first-half as Leyton Orient ran out 2-0 winners to maintain top spot in the table.

Moses Odubajo opened their account on seven minutes before David Mooney added a penalty after Kevin Lisbie had already missed an earlier spot-kick.

Latest signing Brad Inman was included on the bench but witnessed the visitors making a poor start, with Lisbie shooting narrowly wide from 25-yards and George Ray surviving penalty claims following a challenge on Mooney inside the area.

But moments later Odubajo got in behind the defence to drive the home side in front on an increasingly saturated playing surface. Lisbie soon threatened again as goalkeeper Alan Martin misjudged a cross.

Goalscorer Odubajo was then denied by the covering challenge of Matt Tootle, until Chuks Aneke was ruled to have held Lisbie inside the area from the subsequent corner. Fortunately for the visitors, Lisbie screwed his penalty wide.

However, a second opportunity from twelve-yards wasn't long in coming. This time teenage defender Ray followed through on Dean Cox and Mooney made no mistake from the spot.

Decent work from Ryan Colclough did allow Aneke to curl wide of the mark ahead of the interval, although the O's were wanting another penalty when Nathan Clarke was challenged by Abdul Osman inside the area.

The Alex enjoyed some early possession and forced a few corners upon the restart - but it was Lisbie going closer at the other end when Martin mishandled another cross. Aneke hoisted over in reply and Colclough also saw his shot deflected over before Max Clayton dragged wide.

Colclough then seized upon a loose ball and forced another save from Jamie Jones, whose opposite number Martin soon reacted well to keep out Mooney.

The visitors were certainly more of a threat in the second-half, with Anthony Grant's 25-yard effort being deflected wide and keeper Jones thwarting both Aneke and Colclough. He also turned over from Aneke's downward header following good work by Osman.

Crewe were again unfortunate as Aneke struck the underside of the crossbar, while Lisbie replied by heading straight at Martin from Cox's free-kick.
