Crewe Alexandra were eventually undone by a Byron Webster goal five minutes before the break as Yeovil Town claimed a 1-0 victory at Gresty Road.
The Alex earlier handed a first league start to Ollie Turton after Abdul Osman (ankle) and Andy Bond (groin) were as expected both ruled out.
Crewe's on loan midfielder Chuks Aneke forced goalkeeper Marek Stech into a save during the early stages while Paddy Madden had a header ruled out for offside from a Sam Foley cross at the other end.
Midweek two-goal hero Byron Moore then broke well and dragged wide for the hosts and Joe Edwards replied by lifting over the target.
But after goalkeeper Alan Martin had dealt with an awkward Edward Upson shot at the expense of a corner, Webster forced the ball in from the resultant set-piece five minutes before the break.
Teenager Aneke soon headed at Stech following Moore's cross at the opposite end, where Mathias Pogba failed to really trouble the Czech keeper with a couple of efforts at the start of the second period.
Yeovil's Keanu March-Brown next drove narrowly over and the in-form Madden also called Martin into further action. His opposite number Stech then collected a rather stabbed effort from Aneke and Pogba saw an attempt blocked as the home side continued to search for an equaliser.
That witnessed Stech making a decent save from Moore on the half-volley while Aneke and substitute Brendan Daniels were both wide - with Foley and Madden each missing from opportunities in return.
