Moore doubles Alex's joy

Crewe Alexandra once again showed their powers of recovery as Byron Moore struck twice to complete a hard-earned 2-1 victory against Swindon Town at Gresty Road.

Raffaele De Vita headed the visitors into the lead midway through the opening half but Moore swiftly equalised following a cross from full debutant Michael West.

And Moore added his second of the evening with a neat finish over goalkeeper Wes Foderingham just before the interval to move the hosts up to sixteenth in the table.

The opening exchanges produced few genuine chances although James Collins guided an Alan McCormack cross wide for the visitors.

The Robins still went in front on 25 minutes when Tommy Miller crossed for De Vita to direct his header past Alan Martin.

But Alex were back level just four minutes later as Chuks Aneke allowed West to deliver to the far post and Moore claimed his first goal since scoring in the play-off final at Wembley back in May.

Buoyed by that success the on loan Aneke was twice denied by Foderingham before the Arsenal teenager released Moore to produce a delightful finish over the keeper and double his tally.

Crewe began the second-half without the injured Abdul Osman and Oliver Turton replaced him in midfield. But it was Mathias Pogba soon going down inside the area without any reward.

Swindon boss Paulo Di Canio also made changes and home keeper Martin was required to make a tremendous save from former Alex winger Gary Roberts.

Pogba then cleared the target in reply but the visitors continued to push forward as Matt Ritchie couldn't direct his header on target and Roberts struck directly at Martin.

The Alex were still working hard to hold onto their advantage and Ritchie dragged another opportunity wide but the home side remained strong for their fourth league win of the campaign.
