Crewe face a tough test in Barnsley for the first round of the Carling Cup tomorrow night.
Steve Holland
Crewe manager Holland spoke to the official Crewe website "I cannot wait for the next game to come along. The Barnsley game has come around quickly, as usually happens at the start of the new season with the Carling Cup fixtures."
"It gives us an opportunity to perform better and we want to do a lot better in the Cup competitions than we did last season. We will go over what was good on Saturday and what wasn't good and be ready for Tuesday night."
Simon Davey
Davey spoke to barnsleyfc.co.uk about the game against Crewe "Crewe have a reputation for Cup shocks and play very good football. It will be tough but we are confident of getting a result."
"It is important for us to go and win the game. We will always put out our strongest team in the Cup. We will take it very seriously because we need a cup run every year."
Crewe will be looking to put Saturdays defeat behind them and push on for a good cup run to bring in some extra pennies. Bopp is ruled out with a muscle strain he picked up against Brighton and Zola is also rated as doubtful.
Elding will be pushing for a start after impressing in the last 30 minutes on Saturday.
The Barnsley team should include ex-Crewe player Steve Foster who should receive a warm welcome back to Gresty Road. El Haimour is out of the game with a calf strain and Van Homoet is starting to serve a 3 match ban.

The most common score in the prediction league unfortunately is a 3-1 defeat. I can't argue with that.
