Safety In Sight

A point against Bournemouth will be enough to secure League One football at Gresty Road for next season but will at the same time all but condemn Bournemouth to League Two.

The Dorset club have put on a remarkable fight back in recent weeks. Having been 14 points behind safety towards the end of March, thanks to a 10 point deduction for going into administration, they have managed five straight wins including a 2-1 away win at Champions elect Swansea.

They now sit four points off safety and require two wins from their final two games and results to go their way to pull off a great escape. They can in fact still stay up ahead of us should we lose our last two and they win their last two, having a superior goal difference.

But then it's such a fine line that a draw tomorrow will see us well and truly out of the relegation picture whilst Bournemouth would have to hope Cheltenham failed to win.

It's going to be a toughie but there is certainly more pressure on Bournemouth to win tomorrow than the Alex and it may work to our favour.

Star winger Max Gradel looks set to miss the game. The Leicester player has some personal worries he has to attend to in France and seems unlikely to be back at Bournemouth for the rest of the season.

Bournemouth will be missing Neil Moss, Gareth Stewart, Russ Perrett and Steven Foley through long term injuries.

They could be unchanged from the side that beat Walsall last weekend.

He was relatively unknown when he turned down a move to the Alex in January but has since been linked with moves left right and centre. Reportedly fielding interest from Newcastle United, the 18 year old has a healthy 11 goals to his name this season.

Patrick Boyle has returned to Everton which leaves the left back spot vacant. Billy Jones has recovered from the injury that's kept him out four months but won't travel as his partner is about to give birth.

Dan Woodards looks good to be included in the team, and could play left back, after recovering from injury.

Michael O'Connor and Neil Cox are also back but not expected to start. Steve Jones will hope to get more than the 5 minutes he got against Cheltenham.

Well, what more can be said about Nicky that hasn't already been said? 11 goals in his last 7 games could be added to this weekend. Bournemouth will be putting a lot of effort in to stopping Nicky, maybe neglecting to threat from the likes of Lunt, Anyinsah and Pope.

The two sides have played each other 37 times. The Alex come out on top with 14 wins to Bournemouth's 11. There have been 12 draws.
