'If It's Football, It's Vital'

News Round-Up

With the gloomy atmosphere around Gresty Road the club have gone all quiet on us, leaving us with very little to add to the site. Since Stuart Fleetwood rejected us late on Tuesday night you'd be forgiven for thinking activity at Gresty Towers has ceased.

The biggest piece of news is that Shaun Miller is ruled out of Saturday's home game against Swindon. The young striker took a knock to the ankle during Tuesday night's game and has been ruled out, whilst winger Byron Moore is over his illness and likely to return to the team.

Neil Baker told the official site that they are still on the hunt for players, claiming that no-one is trying harder to get new players in than Crewe Alexandra FC.

Baker also commented on the farcical Fleetwood deal, saying: 'When a player like that becomes available you obviously do your best to get them. We did our best with Fleetwood. We offered Forest Green probably more than he was worth and made him a good contract offer, an all round good package. He thinks he can do better, good luck to the lad and we move on.'

Meanwhile, outcast Eugen Bopp will be allowed to leave on loan if he can't secure a move away from Gresty Road. Bopp was told at the start of the month he's allowed to leave the club on a free, but it seems the only clubs interested want him on loan.

Finally, former Alex loanee Lee Barnard will sign a 2 and half year deal at Southend before the end of the month, subject to medical.
