Crewe Look To Keep Church

Steve Holland has enquired about extending Simon Church's loan, which comes to an end on Saturday. The 19 year old Reading striker has impressed the management enough to want to renew his loan deal, despite scoring just once in 13 appearances.

Holland has already approached Reading about extending Church's loan till the end of the season but believes Reading may want the Wales U-21 start back, for the meantime at least.

Holland told the official site: 'I've spoken to Nicky Hammond at Reading about keeping Simon until the end of the season. We would like to do that and I think Simon would like to do that as well. It depends on Reading's situation.

'It seems to be the policy at Reading that they recall their young loaned player and evaluate them before letting them go out again. We hope he will be able to return us once Reading have spoken to him.'

Church, meanwhile, has already stated his desire to stay on at Crewe.
