Grimsby's Butler Linked
The Cleethorpes media believes that Grimsby Town striker Martin Butler could be on his way to Gresty Road. The 33 year old striker only signed for the Mariners at the start of the month following a three month loan from Walsall. However, reports suggest that Butler has failed to settle at his new club, having to travel from his midlands home every day.
Crewe have been linked to Butler in the past; in October it was reported that Dario was keen on loaning the striker from Walsall whilst Nicky Maynard was recovering from a broken leg. Whether that has led the press in Grimsby to put two and two together to make five remains to be seen.
It'd certainly be one of the odder signings, and certainly not fan pleasing. With two 'substantial bids' place for two strikers this week, we can only assume that neither of those is for a 33 year old who Walsall needed to offload this month. Then again, this is Crewe.
