Sights Turn To Scunny Winger
After failing to secure the services of Lee Holmes and Max Gradel earlier this week, first team coach Steve Holland has seemingly moved straight onto the next name on his list - Cleveland Taylor from Scunthorpe United.
It's reported that whilst the Alex look set to put an offer on the table for the right winger, we will face competition from the likes of Carlisle and Tranmere. Carlisle have already put forward a £75,000 bid whilst Tranmere are offering a loan deal, whilst Championship clubs Hull City and Plymouth Argyle are also showing a keen eye.
Taylor, who came through Bolton's youth system, has played over 100 games for Scunthorpe since signing in 2004 following a loan spell. A natural right winger, Taylor is also known to play down the middle and has scored 14 league goals in three seasons for Scunthorpe but is responsible for setting up many more.
Taylor has seen two promotions in a Scunthorpe shirt but promotion to the Championship looks to be a step too far and has failed to make an impact for the Iron this season. With only 6 months left to run on his contract, and having been excluded from Scunthorpe's squad today, it looks like Taylor is on his way out.
Like the rest of our transfer targets though, this looks to be destined for failure. If 3rd place Carlisle have already shown firm interest then it'll be a struggle to sell a club on a downer, like Crewe, to Taylor.
