Crewe Hopeful On £300k Captures

Crewe are looking hopeful on capturing two strikers this week, at a cost of over £300k. As already reported on Vital Crewe, Steve Holland and the club are in advance talks with Cheltenham Town striker Damian Spencer after Cheltenham accepted a £150,000 bid on Wednesday. It is hoped Spencer will complete a deal by the weekend and in time for Monday's televised game against LEeds United.

Holland is also waiting for news on the £175,000 bid for Forest Green Rovers' Stuart Fleetwood. With 26 goals in just 27 games this season, Fleetwood has received plenty of interest this season. Rovers have already rejected two offers in the region of £100k from Cheltenham, and there is still plenty of interest about.

Gillingham also have a offer on the table for Fleetwood but Gills manager Mark Stimson believes Crewe may have out muscled them in the race for his signature:

He told the Gills site: 'I believe Crewe Alexandra have entered the race and have probably doubled the bid we put in. We'll have to wait and see but he is one of about three phone calls I am waiting for.'

Steve Holland has been told that Forest Green will make a decision on the offer on Friday during their next board meeting.
