Jones Talks On Alex Contract

Following news of Preston's interest in striker Steve Jones he says he is hopeful of signing a new contract with Crewe.

His comments could be viewed as a snub to Preston who have announced that they are interested in signing the striker.

Jones will be out of contract at the end of the season, and does have a new offer on the table but he admits himself, although he is hoping to sign the extension with Crewe he hasn't sat down and talked about it yet.

'I'm contracted to Crewe at the moment and it is my job to score goals for them.

'Crewe have offered me a contract but we haven't really sat down and talked about it yet.

'I don't know what will happen because I'm out of contract in the summer. Hopefully something can be sorted out with Crewe but who knows at the moment,' he added on the club's official website.
