Dickson: It was too soon

Former loanee striker Chris Dickson thinks a move up North came too soon. The 22 year old Charlton hit man arrived on a month's loan in August, but failed to impress fans and coaching staff alike at Gresty Road.

Fresh from the non-league, it came as no surprise that Dickson failed to hit it off straight away, despite high praise from Charlton manager Alan Pardew.

Dickson left the Alex after his one month, making just 3 appearances, but immediately went onto League One rivals Gillingham where he's had success.

Eight goals in eleven appearances for the Gills has made him an instant fans favourite and also won Alan Pardew over, who has told Gillingham he wants Dickson back after his current deal is up.

On Tuesday night Dickson will face his former team mates when Gillingham travel to Gresty Road, and speaking ahead of that game he looked back on his time with the Alex.

He told cafc.co.uk: 'Moving to the North West may have been a bit too soon for me.

'Everyone made me feel very welcome up there, and obviously footballing wise it didn't work out. But now I'm back down here, I feel more at home.

'I think Crewe may be a bit wary about the Chris Dickson that will go up there on my return, as I don't think it will be the same Chris Dickson that was there last time.'
