Trio Enjoy International Night

Michael O'Connor, Owain Fon Williams and Simon Church were in action for their respective international teams last night.

Michael O'Connor scored his 2nd goal in as many games for Northern Ireland U21s. After his goal at the weekend against Luxembourg, he opened the scoring against Moldova U21s last night after just 3 minutes.

Fon Williams and Church meanwhile turned out for Wales U21s as they secured a fantastic 4-2 win over the French. Fon Williams started the game which Wales led 1-0 from a first half goal, but it wasn't till after Simon Church came on in the 68th minute that the game turned on it's head.

France managed to claw 2-1 in front with a confident Fon Williams unable to stop a penalty and a fantastic 20 yard finish getting past him. However, Wales dug in and thanks to Man City's Ched Evans they got back in front through a penalty. Mark Bradley put Wales back in front, before a last minute penalty won by Church secured Evans a hat-trick and Wales a 4-2 win.

The results mean both Northern Ireland and Wales are in good positions to qualify for the Euro 2009 U21 championships.

All three players should be fit enough for Saturday's match at Nottingham Forest, although Simon Church is the only one of the three to make an appearance.

O'Connor for Rix Saturday :-)
mowen23
I wouldn't say no! I like O'Connor, think he has the potential to go all the way but needs to get fit and consistent. Does sound like he could be next in line to Rix in more ways than one though - heard a few moans about O'Connor!
