Alex Hit By Injuries

Steve Holland will be ruing his luck as Lee Barnard, Julien Baudet and George Abbey all limp off injured in the 2-0 win over Luton Town.

Barnard's 9th minute injury did make way for goalscorer Ryan Lowe yesterday but it'll be little consolation to Crewe as Barnard faces a lengthy period out. Early diagnosis is that Barney has ankle ligament damage and left the ground with cruches.

Barnard will now return to London to recieve treatment on his injury, and to see if he will be fit before the end of his loan deal in January.

Holland though will be feeling frustration having spent the best part of 3 months getting a strike pairing together. Friday's loan signing of Simon Church should have helped the team push on but it now looks like we're back to square one, and we may need yet another emergency loan to cover - with Nicky Maynard still 3 or 4 weeks away from a return.

Julien Baudet, arguably our best defender this season, also went off in the first half complaining of a thigh strain. Having just returned from injury last week, Baduet will now be looking at another 2 or 3 matches out.

George Abbey was also taken off in the match after pulling up suddenly with a hamstring problem.

The final injury of the day fell to Steven Schumacher, the scouser also picked up a hamstring injury but should be fit enough for the trip to Cheltenham next week.
