Fon In Line For Surprise Wales Call?

Owain Fon Williams could be in line for a surprise call-up to the Wales squad.

The 6ft 4' 'keeper is already a regular with the U-21 squad but injuries to Wales' first choice Wayne Hennessey and Danny Coyne has left John Toshack with a lack of 'keepers.

Derby County's Lewis Price is set to take the number one spot on Saturday in Cyprus if Hennessey can't recover in time, whilst Blackburn's Jason Brown is on stand-by to be understudy. However, Fon could well be called into the squad as a precaution.

The call-up would probably be poor timing for both Crewe and Fon Williams. With Stuart Tomlinson injured and Ben Williams under fire, it is thought Steve Holland could well hand Owain a debut at Southend on Saturday. Whilst his Under-21's duty a week on Wednesday doesn't rule him out of Southend, a call up for the full Welsh squad would certainly.

Wales travel to Cyprus this Saturday before a trip to San Marino on Wednesday. Both games at Euro 2008 qualifiers.

Agree, he isn't likely to play, may not even get on the bench if called up.
