Ashton Gets England Call Up

Former Alex striker Dean Ashton has been called up for England ahead of their two big games.
It comes as no surprise though, with Dean Ashton truly being man of the moment. Having spent twelve months out injured with a broken ankle, Deano has made a brilliant return to both form and fitness, scoring three in his last four games for West Ham.
It was whilst training with the England squad in August of last year that Ashton broke his ankle, just hours before he was to win his first cap. He now looks set to be given a second chance in the hope he can fire England to Euro 2008.
Should Deano play in one of England's next two games, Estonia on October 13th and Russia on October 17th, he will join a long list of former Alex players playing for England.
Inside Dario's era at the club, the likes of Geoff Thomas, David Platt, Rob Jones, Seth Johnson and Danny Murphy have all gone on to play at the highest level for England.
