Crewe Dominate Fair Play

After 8 games, the Alex are dominating the Fair Play Award like never before.

We currently sit top of the League One Fair Play table, and infact if you took all 92 league clubs and all the Blue Square Premier clubs - we'd still be top.

With only two yellow cards this season, West Brom are the only professional club in England to get near our record - but even they have picked up 5 yellow cards.

As for our bookings, well both came in the first four games, and both were given to Gary Roberts.

In League One, we are the only club to remain on single figure yellow cards. Our closest rivals for the Fair Play award this year seem to be Huddersfield, who've had eight more bookings and committed 25 more fouls than us.

None of this comes as a surprise. The club proudly boast that it has won the Bobby More Fair Play Award eleven times in just 14 years, but fans see it more as a hindrance.

Fans have long said that the club should stop focusing on the Fair Play Award and show a bit of grit, but an easy answer to that would be; winning the award doesn't necessarily mean there's no grit and determination in the team, simply that we play the game the right way. Well timed tackles and no silly arguing with the referee can go a long way - just ask Didier Drogba.

So, with 20 less fouls, and at least 3 less bookings than anyone else in country, the club can be assured of one trophy for this season - the one we've kept for the past 10 years.
