Defence Was A Disgrace

Defence Was A Disgrace

Dario Gradi was far from happy with the performance at the Keepmoat Stadium against Doncaster Rovers.

The Alex offered little as they crashed to a 2-0 defeat in Yorkshire, and like the fans Dario was annoyed at the quality shown by the team.

The Technical Director told Crewealex.net: 'The first goal was a disgrace. If our centre halves cannot do better than that then we will have problems. It was a simple ball over the top and it has gone between both of them.

'I said to Steve (Holland) that it seems that we have to go over everything every week for them to remember anything. Then the second goal just killed us. After that they could just keep the ball and see the game out.'

Lee Barnard made his second start in a Alex shirt, but a complete lack of service saw the loanee frustrated up front. Dario says that needs working on:

'I think Lee Barnard had three passes to his feet all afternoon. We just spooned it forward, so its back to square one because we need to work on getting better service into Lee because he has obvious ability, but he needs it to his feet.'
