Bopp to fight for central role
Summer signing Eugen Bopp faces a fight on his hands to oust Steve Schumacher or Neil Cox in the midfield engine room. The former Rotherham player played on the left hand side of midfield in the home defeat against Leyton Orient.
Technical Director Dario Gradi had hoped to accommodate the Ukranian born midfielder by playing him on the left. But after a low key performance on the wing he is unlikely to feature wide again.
Gradi was confident that Bopp can play that role but indicated the player wasn't happy to play wide left and didn't run about much and that was the end of the experiment.
Bopp will now have to be patient for his chance in the middle. Many Crewe fans feel he should play ahead of Cox anyway as he offers a greater attacking option.
