'Well Express Barnard Interest

Motherwell say they want Lee Barnard on loan, as the Crewe/Barnard transfer saga enters it's third week. The Tottenham Hotspur striker agreed to come on loan on the opening day of the season, but agreeing terms with Tottenham proved difficult. He was then supposed to arrive on Thursday last week but picked up a knock in training and so the transfer was put back.

Alex fans have been promised news on more than one ocassion since but as yet there has been no activity.

Today, SPL team Motherwell entered the picture confirming their interest in the 23 year old hitman. Motherwell manager Mark McGhee told the Official Motherwell Website that he wants Barnard but faces tough competition:

'I have been talking to Spurs about their young striker, Lee Barnard, with a view to bringing him here on loan,' McGhee told his club website.

'But the player is looking at his options as there a number of Championship clubs interested.'

Earlier this week Steve Holland said that Barnard would be arriving at Crewe by the Leyton Orient game, but as of mid-day Friday there has been no news on Barnard's arrival.
