Billy Jones Fee Set To Be Decided

After two long months, the fee that took Billy Jones from Crewe Alexandra to Preston North End is set to be decided on Friday. Due to Jones being under the age of 24, and him being an academy graduate, compensation is required for Jones' out of contract move to Preston North End. This will be decided at a Football League tribunal in Manchester on Friday.

The 20 year old defender penned a four year contract at Deepdale in June. Preston and Crewe attempted to agree a compensation package between themselves but failed, with Preston saying the clubs were nowhere near each other in their valuations.

It's thought Dario was asking Preston for £1million, whilst Preston's top offer was £400k. A fee of £600k to £700k, with add-ons, is expected to be the final fee.

In his time at Crewe, Jones has played for, and captained, England youth teams right through to the U-20s. He also made his league debut in the Championship at the age of 16, going on to play 130 games for the club. Preston, meanwhile, have attempted to dampen the Alex's case by using Billy sparingly in the opening few games of the season, hoping to convince the tribunal that Billy won't be seeing much first team action this season.

Vital Crewe will bring you any news from the tribunal as soon as we get it on Friday.
