Ling Looks Forward To Gresty Trip

Leyton Orient manager Martin Ling says that Crewe are a side he expects to be at the top end of the table this season. Orient arrive at Crewe on Saturday sitting at the top of the table, with the Alex just behind them in 3rd. Although it's hardly a six pointer after just two league games.

Orient are one of just two League One teams with a 100% record so far this season. Having beaten Southend on the first day of the season, a penalty against Walsall saw them claim a good 1-0 win. In between they beat QPR 2-1 at Loftus Road in the cup.

Leyton Orient's last visit to Gresty Rooad result in a 4-0 thrashing by the O's. However, Orient manager Martin Ling said that he expects Crewe to do well this season, despite losing Varney and Maynard.

'It's not an ideal scenario for them, but Crewe are a side I expect to be there or thereabouts at the end of the season,' Ling told the East London Advertiser.

'They have brought in Chris Dickson on loan from Charlton and are after Lee Barnard from Spurs as well.'

Ling also had a word to say for former Orient defender Billy Jones. Billy played over 70 times for Orient before moving on a free to Exeter in January 2005. Billy then made the £65,000 move to Gresty Road in the summer, and will face his old club for the first time since leaving this Saturday. Ling, though, reckons he's a much improved player since his Brisbane Road days.

'He is a much better defender now than when he was with us.'
