Alex Ladies Lose Opener

Crewe Alexandra Ladies began only their second season in the Ladies Premier League North last weekend, with a 1-0 loss away to Preston North End Ladies.

Last season the ladies finished 4th in the league, a highly commendable achievement as it was there first time in the league and they finished above the likes of Aston Villa and their latest opponents Preston.

Next weekend the Alex Ladies travel to Stockport who beat Rotherham 5-1 in their first game of the new season.

For those who aren`t familiar with the Crewe Alexandra Ladies, they were formed in 1999 as Crewe Ladies, but in the last two years have become associated with their male counterparts from Gresty Road and so became Crewe Alexandra Ladies.

For anybody who might be familiar with the England Women`s set up, the Alex Ladies First Team Manager, Terry Unitt, is the father of England International defender Rachel Unitt, whose club team is Everton Ladies.

A further point for anybody interested, they play their home games at the Cumberland Arena in Crewe and train at Bentley Motors.

Crewe Vital will be monitoring their progress over the course of the season and will be keeping you updated. We would like to wish the Crewe Alexandra Ladies good luck for the current campaign and hope they can build on the success of last season.

If you would like to discuss or make us aware of anything to do with the Crewe Alexandra Ladies or just to talk about anything Crewe Alex, then please join us on the Crewe Vital forum, as we are keen to hear your views and opinions.
