Crewe Could Target City Pair

Crewe could set their sights on Manchester City pair Ishmael Miller & Daniel Sturridge (pictured, centre).

The club are still working to sign a second striker to accompany Lee Barnard to Gresty Road, who should complete his loan deal later this week.

Two names mentioned could be Ishmael Miller & Daniel Sturridge from Manchester City. Miller, though, is set for talks at West Bromwich Albion about a loan deal, which would almost certainly put an end to our hopes of signing him.

Sturridge could still be a possibility. Daniel Sturridge, the nephew of Dean, is highly rated amongst the ranks at Manchester City but at 18 he is unlikely to see much first team action under Sven Goran-Eriksson.

Sturridge was a target for Dario last summer when it looked like a lack of goals would be a problem for the Alex - but all interest ceased when an unlikely partnership of Varney & Maynard arrived.

Dario told the Crewe Chronicle that they will probably wait on another target before turning to Man City's yongsters:

'Steve has spoken to Alex Gibson about players at Manchester City, but I don't think anything is imminent there. There is another one which could happen and we are reasonably close.'
