Holland Cools Striker Talk
Steve Holland has denied that a new striker is imminent after Plymouth's Nick Chadwick was linked in a £250,000 move over the weekend.
Holland has seen his strikers fail to make an impact this summer and it seems clear that the team is desperate for a 'big man' up front.
He told the official site that a new striker is still number one priority and talks have taken place with various clubs.
'There is nothing imminent on that but we have been in conversations with various clubs over the last few days, which may or may not see us make some progress before the start of the season.
'We are still very much looking for that bigger striker, but we won't just bring someone in for the sake of it.'
So far this summer Crewe have been linked with Lee Barnard (Tottenham), Craig Lindfield (Liverpool), Jemal Johnson (Wolves), Leon Constantine (Unattatched) and Nick Chadwick (Plymouth, pictured).
Patrick Suffo, formerly of Sheff Utd and Coventry, is currently on trial but is severely lacking fitness.
