Youngsters Finish 6th

A mix up sees the Alex youngsters crash out of the BT Trophy in 6th place after losing to Chelsea.

Due to a breakdown in communication it was initially reported that the young Alex side had made it to the semi-finals of the BT Trophy in Northern Ireland. However, it seems that the 6-5 penalty shoot out win over Queen of the South in the quarter finals was actually a defeat.

So, yesterday the young team played AIK Stockholm in the 5th-8th place play-offs who they drew with 1-1, and this time they did win the following penalty shoot out with a 4-1 win.

So the Alex progressed to the 5th/6th place play-off game against 'giants' Chelsea, unfortunately it wasn't to be as Chelsea ran out 2-0 winners against the Alex academy side.

It means the Alex finish 6th place in the BT Trophy, with Chelsea in 5th place.

Today, Swindon Town, last year's Milk Cup winners, went on to lift the BT Trophy with a 5-3 penalty shoot out win over Watford after a 1-1 draw in normal time.

This afternoon sees the Milk Cup tournament wrap up for yet another year as the Milk Cup Final(s) takes place. In the Junior section (Crewe's section), St Kevin's will play Guadalajara; the 'Premier' section (U-16's) will see Fluminense v Manchester Utd; whilst the 'Elite' section (U-21's) will see Israel vs Northern Ireland.
