Full back's set to sign

BBC Radio Stoke are report that former Port Vale and Macclesfield full back George Abbey is close to securing a one year contract with Crewe.

It was revealed today on the radio station 1pm sports bulletin that the 29 year old is set to sign. The Nigerian defender can operate at either left back or right back.

He played 53 times for the Vale and his only goal came at the Alexandra Stadium last season, he scored in the Vale's 2-1 defeat in November.

Meanwhile, Ryan Lynch is also set to put pen to paper on a one year deal after an impressive trial period with the club which included games against Liverpool, Quorn and Forest Green.

Abbey is not a bad player, but defending just isn't his strength! far better going forward, alot of Vale fans felt he would be better used as a right midfielder rather than full-back.
