Maynard on the right track

Maynard on the right track

Nicky Maynard will be looking to emulate what he achieved in his first full season as a professional. The Winsford born striker hit 19 goals in an injury hit season and struck up one of the most potent strike forces in the division with Luke Varney.

Of course, Luke has now moved on to Charlton and a lot of pressure will rest with him to score the goals to help us get promotion back to the championship. The player hopes to reach the 20 goal barrier this season, if he does that he is sure to attract plenty of attention from scouts up and down the country.

He is rated highly and if he stays free from injury he should have no problems scoring 20 goals in this division. The bookies rate him as 9/1 to be top goalscorer in League One and you wouldn`t bet against him acheiving this feat.

Sporting a new shaved haircut he has so far performed well in pre-season against Liverpool and Quorn. He scored his first goal of pre-season in the first half against Quorn before being withdrawn at half time - Hopefully that goal will be the first of many in the forthcoming season.
