Bell Gets Stags Trial

Former Alex midfielder Lee Bell will get a run out for Mansfield Town this summer as he looks for a new club.

The 24 year old left the Alex on a free in January to sign for Burton Albion, just a couple of months after playing in a Carling Cup game against Premiership champions Manchester United.

Bell's time at Burton Albion was short though and was released immediately after the season had ended. He has spent the vast majority of the summer training back at Reaseheath with his former team mates.

This week Bell joined up with the Mansfield squad and the Mansfield manager, Billy Dearden, says Bell will get a chance to prove himself in the club's pre-season friendlies.

Bell played over 50 times in his stop-start career after graduating from the academy but never managed to secure a regular starting spot in the team. He had spells on loan at Shrewsbury and Burton Albion.

Shame their manager and papers have been calling him "Ian Bell". Hope they don't expect him to play a bit of cricket too.
