Crewe Set To Miss Out On Barnard

Crewe look set to miss out on Tottenham Hotspur's Lee Barnard as he heads Millwall's way, according to reports.

Crewe are known to be keen on the young Tottenham striker but were recently told by Spurs that Barnard wouldn't be available as he is in their first team plans.

Dario and Steve Holland saw Barnard as the perfect man to replace Luke Varney in the short term and spent a couple of weeks persuing a lost cause.

However, it now seems that Millwall have nipped in to steal him from under our nose. According to VitalMillwall, the 20 year old will put pen to paper on a season long loan deal this week along with his Spurs team mate Jamie O'Hara.

If it turns out to be true then it'll certainly be a kick in the teeth for us. A Luke Varney replacement is probably the last piece to the jigsaw this summer and many saw Barnard as the perfect piece.

Maybe with Spurs signing Darren Bent, Dario and Holland didn't move quick enough to re-ignite the interest?
