Higdon Heads North

Michael Higdon has left Crewe Alexandra for Falkirk this evening after a torrid spell at the club. The striker never really shone after breaking into the first team and despite Dario's attempts to spur him on the stick he got only got worse.

Higdon officially rejected a new contract last week but it was clear half way through the season that 'The Don' wouldn't be around much longer after taking some quite spiteful abuse from his own fans.

Higdon will now face the likes of Celtic and Rangers next season and Falkirk manager John Hughes told the Falkirk Official website he'll be up to the job; "I`m delighted we`ve acquired his services. We`ve tracked his progress over the last year and the lad has impressed us on the numerous occasions we`ve watched him. Falkirk have been missing a strong presence up front and Michael will give us that option now. His character is good as well, a confident and lively lad who I`m sure will settle quickly with us."

"Dario Gradi has been his mentor and Michael will have learned a lot as the former Crewe boss likes to play the same style of football as we do at Falkirk."

Higdon, meanwhile, was delighted to have secured his future and can't wait to get started; "I`m thrilled to move to an SPL club. Falkirk were one of many options I had but I was overwhelmed by the ambition shown by the people there and that convinced me it was the right place to go."

We wish Higdon well, although not the greatest footballer we've ever had he never deserved half the abuse directed at him during games, and who can forget his winning header against Doncaster?
