Stalybridge Celtic Preview

A strong Crewe side will travel to Conference North side Stalybridge Celtic for tonight's CSC semi final as Crewe look to reach the final for the fourth time in five years. The game will give a chance to the squad’s fringe players as well as various youth players.

Crewe will be looking to secure their first win of 2006 ahead of Saturday’s championship clash with Plymouth. Several first team players such as Stephen Foster and Steve Jones will be looking to make an impact tonight in order to gain a first team place for the match against Plymouth.

Youth team graduates Nicky Maynard and Rob Llloyd have been recalled from loan spells with Witton Albion in order to claim a place in the 14 man squad that will travel to the Bower Fold for tonight’s match.

Crewe are yet to concede in this year’s competition and the trip to Stalybridge will be their first away tie of the competition after seeing off Stockport and Altrincham at home to set up tonight’s semi final clash.

Stalybridge progressed to the 3rd round of the FA Trophy last Saturday by beating Solihull Borough 1-0 at the Bower Fold. Former Crewe player Steve Garvey played in this match and should be included in the squad to face Crewe tonight. Stalybridge have now been handed an away tie at Sailsbury City in Round 3.

Stalybridge currently sit in 11th place in Conference North and have won 5, drawn 3 and lost 2 of their home league games and their top scorer is Lee Ellington who has bagged 18 goals so far this season.
