Second Crewe Alex Departure?

Crewe Alex manager-come technical director/football director Dario Gradi has admitted that he has fielded the first enquiry from another club about the availability of young star Billy Jones.

Jones, who is out of contract at the end of the season is set to leave the club having rejected the chance to extend his contract, and the club are keen to agree a transfer fee now, rather than risk receiving a low fee that will be decided via tribunal due to the players age.

ith many clubs having been linked to Billy, both in the Championship and in the Premiership, Gradi said: 'I have had one phone call from a manager who wants to know what the position is with Billy. Before that we haven't heard anything. We haven't even received a letter turning our contract down.

Saying that Billy might have signed for someone for all I know. I really don't know what the situation is. What I do know is that Billy could hold his own and more in the Premier League."
