Ex-Burnley, Man City and Everton midfielder Tony Grant has put pen-to-paper and agreed a deal with the club until the summer. Crewe's interest in Grant has been known since mid-way through the transfer window, though Grant was unable to sign due to payments he received from Bristol City whilst on trial there in early September, after the transfer window closed. However, Grant has still not recovered from an ankle injury sustained whilst playing for Crewe in a reserve game, and according to Dario Gradi, he is 'a couple of weeks from training', but no doubt Grant's experience will prove a valuable asset to the predominantly youthful Crewe squad. Grant has been handed the number 36 shirt.
Meanwhile, the club have also agreed with Watford for our match on Tuesday 31st January to be brought forward to Saturday 28th January. This is a consequence of both sides being knocked out of the FA Cup meaning both sides were available to play that weekend.
