Alex Training Ground Shut

Crewe Alex manager Dario Gradi has informed all members of staff that the clubs training ground will be closed till Thursday after it was discovered that goalkeeper Ben Williams has a unconfirmed case of viral menigatitus.

The club were quick to state that this was a precaution on advice of the clubs doctor.

Ben signed for Crewe on a free transfer in 2004, after a excellent loan spell that helped the Alex to ensure Championship survival. The former Manchester United youngster was said to be in a stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.

Williams had recently lost the number one spot to keeper Ross Turnbull, who is currently on loan from Middlesbrough. Williams had, however, been expected to reclaim his place in last Saturdays FA Cup tie at Preston but was sent home from training on Friday with a suspected cold.

May I speak on behalf of all football fans in wishing Ben a speedy recovery.
