Crewe Make McNamee Signing

Crewe have signed Watford winger Anthony McNamee on loan for the rest of the season. The signing represents somewhat of a coup for Crewe, whose squad has been obliterated by injuries to key attackers and mifielders.

McNamee burst onto the scene in 2002, showing a great deal of promise as a 19 year old. However, he has struggled to consistently fulfil his potential, with an unsuccessful loan spell at Barnet in the 2003/04 season the lowest point of his career. However, Aidy Boothroyd's appointment saw McNamee regain his form, culminating in a call-up to a one-off Football League U21 fixture.

The signing of McNamee will raise the eyebrows of many Championship fans, with the left winger highly thought of by most who have seen him play. Crewe were alerted to the 23 year old's availability by his agent, as he also represents Danny Woodards.
