There have been four competitive fixtures on September 25th in the 25-year period, taking place in 2001, 2004, 2009 and 2010.

The game in 2001 saw Crewe Alexandra travel to Turf Moor to face Burnley. Kenny Lunt and Steve Foster gave the Alex a 2-goal lead inside the first 30 minutes before Gareth Taylor and an Andy Payton penalty drew the Clarets level with 7 minutes to play. Payton added his second in the 90th minute before Rob Hulse drew Crewe level in stoppage time.

The next game saw Crewe travel to Preston North End`s Deepdale Stadium in 2004 with Callum Davidson scoring the only goal of the game 5 minutes before the break and Preston`s Simon Lynch sent off 19 minutes from time, 8 minutes after coming off the bench.

Preston: Lonergan; Curtis, Mawene, Davis, Davidson; Alexander, O`Neil (McCormack 87), Etuhu, Lewis; Cresswell, Smith (Lynch 63)

In 2009, we travelled to the Crown Ground to face Accrington Stanley. Bobby Grant and Michael Symes both scored inside 5 minutes with Joel Grant pulling one back 2 minutes before the break. Grant restored the 2-goal lead before Andy Procter and Symes added to the scoreline before Grant and Luke Murphy reduced the deficit.

Crewe: Collis; Brayford, O`Donnell (Moore 66), Worley, Jones; Schumacher, Walton (Murphy 72), Mitchel-King, Grant; Miller, Zola

Accrington: Martin; Winnard, Lees, Kempson, Edwards; Ryan (Turner 65), Joyce, Procter, Grant (Kee 85); Miles, Symes

The final game saw the Alex host Oxford a year later. David Artell gave the hosts the lead in the 38th minute before James Constable equalised with 20 minutes to go. The Oxford forward was also sent off for 2 yellow cards late on.
