There have been four competitive fixtures on September 18th in the 25-year period, taking place in 2001, 2004, 2010 and 2012.

The game in 2001 saw Crewe Alexandra host Wimbledon at the Alexandra Stadium. Wayne Brown gave the Dons a 2nd minute lead before second-half goals from David Connolly, Kevin Cooper and David Nielsen gave the visitors a comfortable win.

Wimbledon: Davis; Holloway, Brown, Willmott, Kimble; Andersen (Darlington 46), Hughes, Roberts, Cooper (McAnuff 90); Connolly (Agyemang 85), Nielsen

The next game saw Crewe host Leeds United in 2004. Dean Ashton scored a 48th minute penalty to give the Alex the lead before Danny Pugh equalised 5 minutes later. It looked as if Steve Jones had given the Railwaymen a famous victory in the first ever league meeting between the sides after an 83rd minute goal but Pugh spoiled the party with an 89th minute leveller.

Leeds: Sullivan; Kelly, Butler, Carlisle, Wright; Richardson (McMaster 85), Gregan, Wright, Pugh; Deane, Joachim (Ricketts 69)

The game in 2010 saw a trip to Burton Albion`s Pirelli Stadium. Jacques Maghoma gave the hosts the lead a minute before half-time before Luke Murphy leveled the score mid-way through the second period.

Crewe: Taylor; Mitchel-King (Tootle 43), Ada, Artell, Blanchett; Murphy, Westwood, Bell; Donaldson, Miller (Moore 90), Grant (Powell 70)

Burton: Legzdins; James, Webster, Austin, Corbett; Maghoma, McGrath, Penn, Phillips (Young 80); Harrad, Walker (Pearson 62)

The final game saw the Alex travel to Carlisle United in 2012 in a goal-less draw.
