Match Preview: Crewe Alexandra vs Cambridge United

Tonight we host Cambridge United at the Alexandra Stadium. So far this season they have been inconsistent in the league, starting off with back-to-back defeats against Exeter City and Carlisle United, wins against Crawley Town and Colchester United (both 1-0) either side of a 0-0 home draw to Morecambe before Saturday`s 3-1 defeat at Barnet. They have also lost in the 1st Round of the EFL Cup to Bristol Rovers and had a penalty defeat to Northampton Town in the EFL Trophy.

During the summer, they have made 8 permanent signings with goalkeepers David Forde and Dimitar Mitov arriving to compete for the #1 shirt, midfielders David Amoo, Gary Deegan and Emmanuel Osadebe have joined from Patrick Thistle, Shrewsbury Town and Gillingham respectively whilst the forward options have been strengthened with the arrivals of Jabo Ibehre, Ade Azeez and Jevani Brown. 2 defenders have arrived on loan as centre-backs Kyle Howkins and George Taft have joined from West Brom and Mansfield respectively, both until the new year.

Crewe Alexandra Team News:
Midfielder Conor Grant will could make the bench after being knocked unconscious in the clubs`s defeat against Grimsby just over a week ago. James Jones is back in training but this game comes too early for him whilst George Ray is still a couple of months away from returning.

Cambridge United Team News:
The only player that is likely to miss out is striker Azeez limped off against Barnet at the weekend.
