Match Report - Crewe Alexandra vs Chesterfield

A rampant second-half display saw Crewe Alexandra hit 5 goals for the second time in 6 months with Chris Porter scoring the opening 2 goals with the other goals coming from Perry Ng (his first senior goal), George Cooper and Callum Ainley.

Crewe Alexandra made two changes from last Saturday`s defeat at Grimsby with Tom Lowery returning into the midfield after Conor Grant misses out after being knocked out last week whilst Zoumana Bakayago came in at left-back for Ainley which saw the Alex revert to a back 4, with the young midfielder dropping to the bench.

The opening chance of the game came in the opening minute with Jordan Flores shot from outside the area but his effort was well wide whilst the first Crewe effort saw a tackle just outside the box from a Chesterfield player as it fell into the path of Porter who tucked the ball past Tommy Lee in the 6th minute.

The next chance saw Cooper`s effort saved by Lee whilst Ben Garratt saved from Flores. With 10 minutes of the half left, Chris O`Grady volleyed a free-kick over the bar before Brad Walker`s free-kick was deflected by the wall for a corner. The final chance of the first half saw Bakayago fire well wide of the goal.

The opening chance of the second half saw Porter extend the lead as Walker`s through-ball was tucked home across Lee. Porter had a header disallowed for offside before Ng played a 1-2 with Cooper before firing past Lee with his weaker left-foot to open his account for the first team. The forth of the game came in the 66th minute as Cooper came in from the right-wing and side-footed the ball past Lee before a triple sub saw Charlie Kirk, Ainley and Jordan Bowery came on for Cooper, Porter and Walker with Tuesday night`s home game with Cambridge on manager David Artell`s mind.

Chesterfield got a goal back with 20 minutes to go as Andy Kellett`s cross was headed against the crossbar but hit Crewe defender Eddie Nolan in the chest for an own goal before the final goal came 10 minutes from time as Ainley tucked home a rebound from a Bowery shot that was saved by Lee.
