Defender Eddie Nolan Signs For Crewe Alexandra
Crewe Alexandra have completed the signing of former Republic of Ireland defender Eddie Nolan on a one year deal, which was confirmed on the official site earlier this afternoon. He becomes the forth signing of this summer transfer window after the arrivals of Michael Raynes, Chris Porter and the permanent signing of Jordan Bowery after his loan from Leyton Orient for the second half of last season.
Nolan, 28, started his career at Blackburn Rovers where he made one appearance in the UEFA Cup against AS Nancy Lorraine in December 2006. He gained some first team experience whilst at Ewood Park at Stockport County, Hartlepool United and Preston North End, who he signed permanently for in 2009. After spells on loan at both Sheffield Wednesday and Scunthorpe, the latter becoming permanent, he signed for York City 2 years ago where he spent one season before joining Blackpool last summer.
Nolan has made over 200 league appearances in his career and can play both full-back roles as well as at centre-back and as a holding midfielder and was capped 3 times for the Republic of Ireland in 2009, his debut being their 1-1 draw against Nigeria in May of that year.
