Grant Still Hopeful For A Solution

Tony Grant is still hopeful that a solution can be found to his registration complications!

Grant has the backing of the Professional Footballers Association and he wants his problem highlighted so that other players don't fall foul of the silly bureaucracy.

'I've had a word with the PFA and they seem very hopeful something can be done. When I went down to Bristol City, if I'd known signing for just a week could then stop me playing until January, I wouldn't have done it. If someone had told me that then there is no way I would have jeopardised my career.

'What the League are saying is that I was contracted to Bristol then and I can't sign two contracts.

'I just hope there is some common sense applied to the issue. I think it is a ridiculous ruling which needs to be highlighted. Maybe the FA should tell players who are out of contract exactly what the rules are?'

'The irony is I've not even received the money from Bristol City. But I will carry on training in the meantime with Crewe as I'm enjoying it here and hope something gets sorted out.'

The football League so far are digging their heels in over this ridiculous issue, a league spokesman said:

'We will see if anything can be done, but as the rules stand, Tony Grant cannot sign for anybody until the transfer window reopens in January.'

How about not seeing if anything can be done and actually doing something about what is a ridiculous piece of red tape.
