Davies Rubbishes Vaughan Link

Derby boss Billy Davies has rubbished reports linking the club with a 600,000 bid for Crewe's David Vaughan. Derby are looking to strengthen their midfield following the summer takeover, and have been linked with several midfielders in recent weeks.

However, a bid for Celtic's Stephen Pearson or a permanent move for Man Utd's David Jones seems more likely. Vaughan is contracted until summer 2008 but appears extremely unlikely to want to extend his stay any longer.
