Crewe Alexandra continue to look for their first league points of the season when visiting Gillingham this weekend.

Defender George Ray suffered a head injury during their unlucky midweek Capital One Cup exit to Bolton Wanderers but has been declared as available.

However, on loan midfielder Jamie Ness has a hamstring complaint and was expected to be ruled out for between 3-4 weeks.

"We scored twice against Bolton, created chances and hit the bar twice, so our attacking play was good. Now we have to get that balance right and cut the errors out," manager Steve Davis told BBC Radio Stoke. "The only thing that let us down was that we didn't defend well enough at times.

"The level of performance was high on Tuesday night and it set the standard," he continued. "If we can be really ruthless in our defending and make the right decision at the right moments then we will be fine in this league."

The Gills have selection concerns over defender Joe Martin [knee], midfielder Josh Pritchard [groin] and winger Jermaine McGlashan [hamstring].

Otherwise, goalkeeper Stuart Nelson [thumb] and midfielders Doug Loft (Achilles) and Amine Linganzi (hamstring) remain sidelined.
